Blog #5: AntiWar

War is a hot topic in today's society. Seems there is always one going on whether the average person is aware or not. There are multiple views and standpoints, and often conflicts are broadcasted on news channels and articles are written on news websites, but on a regular basis are we always getting each point of view?

When delving into websites like AntiWar and The American Conservative I noticed points of views regarding war and conflict I have never seen before. Considering one cannot hold their government accountable if the average American does not know about the conflicts we are then that cannot be possible. The United States has been in wars that have left countries in devastation and they have not been able to recover yet, politically or financially. War is something that should be considered carefully by all parties due to how it can greatly affect a country.

I think there are multiple reasons we do not hear voices like these. Websites such as these can spread the idea or fear of anti-patriotism. When articles share the perceived wrong-doings and rights of your country, for example, this article Biden's Ukraine Strategy shows a perspective that breaks down the faults in Biden's plan to stand with Ukraine against Russia, where he states that the military and government will continue to work in the conflict as long as it takes. This could demonstrate a lack of future mindset, what this would take, and all the risks at hand. The importance of getting more anti-war voices allows a chance to make your own decision and in turn speak against the government which is a fundamental right, but one that is feared in times of war.

The government does not want us to be against them or the military because it is easiest to keep us in the dark and prevent a divide. Though because of this, there is a need to search out obscure websites for the broken-down harsh truth.
